Quin Coltman, Saxophonist
Quin Coltman is a native of Ashtabula County, Ohio, and a graduate of Conneaut High School. He is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education and Saxophone Performance at Slippery Rock University, where he studies under Dr. Jason Kush. Quin has performed with artists such as Patrick Bartley, Ayn Inserto, Jazz Legacy Project, and Emmy award winning rapper FRZY,
At SRU, Quin is a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and the ARC Saxophone Quartet. His performance experiences include the playing with the SRU Wind Ensemble at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conference, performances with the ARC Saxophone Quartet at the International Saxophone Symposium and the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference, and multiple recording projects with the SRU Jazz Ensemble. His jazz ensemble recordings include Shafi, Black Coffee, and World premieres, I’ve Found a New Baby arr. Shane McCandles (Miller Auditorium 2024), and Magic Writer by Ayn Inserto (Miller Auditorium 2025). He has also performed world premieres with the SRU Wind Ensemble such as Woman by Erin Keeton Howard (PMEA Conference 2025), and Vuelo De Brujas by James M. David (Swope Music Hall, 2025).
Quin has also taken part of the 2025 American Saxophone Academy a weeklong intensive camp that provided performance opportunities and daily one-on-one lessons, group lessons, and masterclasses with professors such as, Dr. Carrie Koffman, Dr. Timothy McAllister, Dr. Otis Murphy, Dr. Kenneth Tse, and Dr. Chien-Kwan Lin. He was also chosen to take part in masterclasses with Dr. Timothy McAllister, Jeremy Koch, and Chika Inoue while at SRU.
Equally passionate about music education, Quin is a marching saxophone instructor at Seneca Valley, and Conneaut High School. He is also a preschool music educator with the SRU/SGA Preschool and Childcare Center, where he works to lead imaginative music experiences for young learners. He is a highly active member of SRU’s Early Childhood Initiative which has recently won the Advocacy in Action 2026 Early Childhood Education Award.
